President Rouhani said lack of unity among Muslims is the main reason behind the current problems and crises that face the Islamic world.
The Iranian president made remarks while addressing a gathering of Pakistani scholars and intellectuals in the capital city, Islamabad, on Saturday..
If Muslims want to overcome the existing crises in the Islamic world, they have no choice, but to foster unity among Muslim societies, Rouhani noted.
The president suggested that religious schools in Islamic countries should teach students in Islamic unity.
He said Islam is the religion of moderation and moral values.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the president noted that the nature of Shia Muslims is not based on confrontation with Sunnis.
Rouhani also warned that those, who are sowing discord between Shia and Sunni Muslims, have no intention but to completely undermine ruin both of these Islamic denominations
Unity will not be attained as long as all denominations of Islam are not respected, . Rouhani, cautioned.
“Enemies want the tree of Islam to be fruitless. Muslims need to revive true Islam,” the president said.
He also emphasized that Muslims need to take advantage of the power of Islam and reinforce their unity.
The president also stressed the importance of promoting the culture of true Islam.
Rouhani went onto say that Muslims should increase their power through pursuing science and knowledge. He also pointed out that that all men and women scholars need to work together to boost the power of Islam.
President Rouhani earlier said that Iran’s relations with Pakistan are strategic as he left Tehran for Islamabad on a landmark two-day visit on Friday.
It is noteworthy that Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic also used to stress through his messages, speeches and works put emphasis on promoting unity among Muslims. He is thought as champion of unity among Muslims in contemporary history.
Imam also stressed the need to promote unity among all followers of divine religions and stood behind the oppressed nations of the world.
