Iran is one of the civilized and cultured nations. One of its honors is its religion based civilization before and after the manifestation of Islam; Iranian welcomed Islam with the open arms and believed it with the bottom of their hearts and then made efforts to promote the Islamic culture and the result is the glorified age of the Islamic civilization and culture. If Iran's history was divided into several levels, there will be three major historic levels because during each of the revolutionary levels, there were surprising changes in political, social, economic and especially cultural dimensions which influence the next generation like a turning point.
1- Islam's entrance to Iran
2- The Safavid dynasty and officially acceptance of Shia
3- The victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran
The Islamic revolution has got the three main elements of ideology, leadership and the people. These elements didn't exist in the other classic and modern revolutions or if existed, they were not closely connected. But in the Islamic revolution of Iran, the result of Imam Khomeini's efforts, this connection was in the way leaded to a system that Foucault believed that the first postmodern revolution was reflected in the Islamic revolution of Iran which challenged so many modern theories of the revolution. Thus, the fourth element of the Islamic revolution was reflected it its systemization and in fact the fourth appearance of the power showed up (The power of people over the heads) and Imam Khomeini as the theorist of the Islamic revolution, the leader of the revolution and the establisher of the Islamic republic system played a great role to realize that. Until Imam Khomeini was the leader and guided the revolution in several challenges like civil conflicts, regional uprisings, repeated coup d'états, the imposed war and diplomatic and economic sanctions there was no chance to determine the different dimensions of the Islamic revolution, but there was provided the appropriate setting after these crisis and establishing the political, economic, social and cultural security. Besides, after the demise of Imam Khomeini, there were was a necessity to gather and maintain Imam's works so the Institute for Compilation and Publication of
Imam Khomeini's Works was established to fulfill these important tasks and maintain the works from being distorted.
Yet, after a while, the necessity of establishing a scientific-research center was felt, although many intellectuals and scientific center in the country or outside had done researches, delivered theories and published significant works about different dimensions of the Islamic republic and the role of Imam Khomeini but no university and no scientific and research institute was operating on this field separately and independently. Thus the notion of establishing the institute of Imam Khomeini was founded.
Since 1996, the institute of Imam Khomeini and the Islamic revolution, dependent on the institute for compilation and publication of Imam Khomeini's works, started working to introduce Imam Khomeini's ideas, doing researches about the different dimensions of Imam's life and notions inside and outside of the country and training the researchers on this field.
The establishment of this institute is beholden to Hojatolislam Haj Sayyid Ahmad Khomeini's foresight and love for the aims and notions of Imam and the institute was established with his pursuit and Dr. Najafgholi Habibi's management, the establishment of the institute is being approved by of the ministry of science, research and technology's the deployment council and the minister of this ministry.
