The Image of Sun photo exhibition has opened in Tehran's Niavaran Cultural and Historical Complex to honor the memory of Imam Khomeini.
The ceremony was attended by Iran's Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hosseini and a number of foreign representatives on Saturday evening.
Some 118 photographs have been selected from the archive of the Institute for the Compilation and Publication of Imam Khomeini's Works, the photo archive of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), and a few private collections.
The displayed works include political and personal pictures, which have captured moments in the life of the late founder of the Islamic Revolution from his youth until his passing in 1389.
Co-sponsored by the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Arts and the Niavaran Cultural and Historical Complex, The Image of Sun, the event, which has been organized to commemorate the 22nd death anniversary of Imam Khomeini, will run from June 3 to 9, 2011.
Every year, millions of Iranians from across the country travel to the south of the Iranian capital Tehran to pay homage to the late leader at the mausoleum of the founder of the Islamic Republic.
The anniversary of the passing away of Imam Khomeini, widely recognized as the symbol of the Islamic Revolution, is commemorated in many other countries as well.
