He made remarks at a ceremony with presence of IRIB chief and senior directors of radio and television who pledged allegiance with the ideals of Imam Khomeini.
Imam Khomeini perhaps has been the first leader in contemporary history who used the media effectively for furthering the purposes and objectives of Islamic Revolution, the scholar added.
“Imam correctly recognized the power of the media of that day and used it in the best way and manner,” Seyyed Hassan Khomeini said, adding, “it means Imam used tribunes, radios and even tools that the powers of that day had against Imam, in order to disarm them.”
Seyyed Hassan Khomeini further emphasized that the Imam correctly understood the power of the media during those days of struggle and following the victory of Islamic Revolution and used it in the best mode and manner.
"Imam and the leaders of the revolution at that time also correctly understood that public opinion and the function of delegations and tribunes," he said
"The press and radios had managed to dominate. For this reason, some western thinkers who wanted to analyze the Iranian revolution said that the Iranian revolution was a "cassette revolution". These sounds and tapes were played and could create waves."
“If we do not know the form and do not produce the necessary content for our times, we will be left behind,” Seyyed Hassan Khomeini noted.
"It is because time changes and subsequently Media discussion changes day by day. I am sure that these things I am saying are well known in the national media and everyone knows them better than I do."
Seyyed Hassan Khomeini said if we want to define the Islamic revolution of Iran with one title that has been given to it over the years, it is "media revolution". Or, in other words, it is "cassette revolution".
"Of course, throughout history, power institutions have always used advertising tools. For example, "poetry" has always been formed in the center of power; because it has been one of the most important media."
"The failure of the tyrannical Shah regime lies in the failure of the media sector. They failed in this area first and collapsed in other areas as well." Seyyed Hassan Khomeini said.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Seyyed Hassan Khomeini said that "talking", "monologue" and "slander" are the plagues of the media in our time and current era.
Seyyed Hassan Khomeini further explained and said as following:
Before Imam, the revolutions were only with the tools of books, media, pulpit and podium, but during Imam’s stay in Nofal Lushatu, when the Imam was giving a speech, he was transmitted to Tehran by phone before nightfall, and by the way.
This made it possible to connect overseas calls to 10 to 15 places in Tehran, Mashhad, Isfahan and Qom at the same time; they played the imam's voice and recorded it in these places. This tape was passed from hand to hand and became the medium of the revolutionaries.
Peyman Jebelli , the head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), for his part, said that Keeping the people in the scene of the revolution and running the country affairs in perfect manner has been one of the obvious teachings and guidelines of the late Imam
