Social media deprives Israel from shaping public opinion

Hossein Tazami, the former deputy press secretary of the Minister of Culture and Guidance, says social media have deprived Israel of the possibility of shaping public opinion.

He made remarks at a summit held under the title “A review of Palestinian developments". The summit was held with the presence of Seyyed Hassan Khomeini and with efforts of the institute for compilation and publication of Imam Khomeini’s works.

Intazami further said that Zionists dominate the world's media flow and they promoted what they wanted because they had the main media stream in the control,.

However, the recent events, as they destroyed the myth of Israel's invincibility, also caused Israel's media power to fail.

The former official went onto say that although the regulations imposed on social media can affect the space to some extent, it cannot completely dominate or totally control the space.

He explained that part of this issue is related to the paradigm shift from mass media to social media.

It is a fact that whenever the paradigm changes, the interpretations and analyzes must be based on the new paradigm, otherwise we will be faced with incorrect or inaccurate and far from reality interpretations.

For an example and instance, let's interpret today's developments in the international world with the paradigm of the Cold War; certainly, it will not have the right result.

So now social media platforms have officially replaced mass media.

The former deputy press secretary of the ministry sated that that the mass media had a mass view of the audience and based on this, it could shape and guide public opinion.

But this is not the case in social media where everyone is a producer while being a consumer at the same time.

In addition to that, there is a lot of interaction in these networks. He reiterated that although the regulations imposed on social media can influence the space to some extent, it cannot completely dominate the space.

Intazami concluded by saying that politicians currently are forced to adopt positions under the influence of public opinion. We hope that ultimately the right front will dominate and win.
