Built on an enormous scale at the giant Behesht-e Zahra cemetery – the Holy Shrine also contains the tombs of Imam Khomeini's wife, known as the holy lady of Iran, Imam’s late son Seyyed Ahmad Khomeini and several other important political and religious figures.
In 2017, former president Akbar Rafsanjani was also buried there.

High level classes are being held for PhD levels and its graduates have presented precious works regarding Imam’s ideals and the history of Islamic Revolution.
The scene was very different in 1989 at the holy site where Imam Khomeini's funeral, was attended by a crowd of 10 million mourners.

It is worth to mention that Imam’s works, messages and speeches continue to inspire the Muslim ummah and all followers of divine religions, and truth –seekers.
Imam Khomeini established an Islamic-democratic system following the emergence of the Islamic revolution under his wise leadership in 1979.
Imam stood to revive the rights of oppressed and Muslim nations at very sensitive juncture of the history, when the world was divided into two eastern and Western blocs.
