I was going to Masjid-e A‘zam (the grand mosque of Qom) where Imam Khomeini conducted his classes.
After class, he would sit down for a while and some students would gather around him.
A problem had cropped up in my mind which I mentioned to him.
The Imam reflected on it and then replied:
“I need to think (about the problem).”
This was a hallmark of humility because usually, in such situations the professors in order to ensure that their academic standing is not jeopardized in front of their students, give an immediate answer but not so the Imam who showed humility and stated: “I need to think about it.”
