The United Nations children’s agency, UNICEF’s Yemen Representative, Julien Harneis, said on Tuesday that 350,000 children got no education last year.
The UNICEF official added that with last year’s figures, there are currently over two million out-of-school kids across the war-torn country,
“Children were killed on their way to school or while at school,” the official said, adding, “Parties to the conflict should keep children and schools out of harm to give education a chance.”
This comes amid the deadly violence, which led to the closure of many schools across Yemen. The UNICEF estimates that 2,108 schools across the war-ravaged country can no longer be used.
Saudi Arabia has been waging a military campaign against Yemen since March 2015.
According to UN figures, more than 10,000 people have lost their lives since last March.
Military of Saudi ruling family—Al Saud regime-- is blamed by the world body and prominent rights groups for most of the civilian deaths in the impoverished country.
Houthi Ansarullah fighters and allied Yemeni army factions have united and are fighting back the Saudi invaders.
It is worthy to mention that Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic through his speeches and messages frequently exposed crimes being committed by the Al Saudi regime against Muslim nations.
Islamic scholars have strongly denounced a secret emerging alliance between Al Saud and occupation regime of Israel against the interests of Muslims in the region. They maintain that the puppet Al Saud family is playing into hands of Israeli regime and colonial powers.
