Sri Lanka’s cardinal of the Catholic Church has hailed Imam Khomeini’s historic role in maintaining Iran’s independence and dignity.
Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith made remarks in a recent meeting with Ayatollah Seyyed Hassan Khomeini, the grandson of the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in Sri Lanka’s capital, Colombo.
Underlining Imam Khomeini’s role in promoting human values, the Cardinal said that one of the main achievements of Iran’s Islamic Revolution has been reviving divine values in human societies.
The Christian leader suggested that Islam and Christianity should closely coordinate to uphold divine values in the world.
Referring to the plight and sufferings of Palestinians, the cardinal depicted Israeli occupation of Palestine as a stain on humanity’s face in contemporary history.
Ranjith concluded by saying that an end to Israeli occupation of Palestine and restoration of Palestinian rights is vital in order for establish peace across the gobe.
It is notable that Imam Khomeini through his speeches and messages on several occasions urged all Muslim nations to pay special attention to the Palestinian issue.
The late founder of the Islamic Republic exposed the Israeli crimes and atrocities, revived the rights of Palestinian people, and took the issue on international stage.
