“No message which would fuel division in the Islamic Ummah should come out of the conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation," President Hassan Rouhani said on Thursday.
President Hassan Rouhani made the remark in an address to the 13th Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) conference in the Turkish city of Istanbul.
He added that “any divisive move [at the OIC] is invalid.”
He went on to say that any divisive movement is against the goal of the organization, and it does not enjoy the consensus of the member states and Muslim community.
The remarks came amid Saudi Arabia’s regime efforts to include statements against Iran and Lebanon’s Hezbollah resistance movement in the draft declaration of the OIC summit.
The president also stressed that the Islamic Republic does not support tension and instability in the region.
Rouhani also highlighted that Iran pursues policies aimed at fostering solidarity and unity in the Muslim world.
The president reaffirmed Iran’s support for dialog and diplomacy as the best way out of any misunderstandings and rifts.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Iranian president described the promotion of relations with Muslim countries as a top priority for the Islamic Republic.
Rouhani also touched on challenges facing Muslims and voiced Tehran’s support for the Muslim countries grappling with terror threats.
The president noted that Iran would not hesitate to help oppressed Muslims if they demand such assistance in the fight against the terrorists seeking to pose threats to sacred Muslim sites.
He added that extremist and Takfiri groups are killing people in cold blood.
The president expressed regret that their bestial crimes are perpetrated in the name of Islam, which has been the main victim of such atrocities.
This came after Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif also strongly condemned Riyadh’s move to include such statements as “destructive.”
Zarif warned that attempts by the Saudis to use the OIC mechanism to achieve their political goals resemble efforts by the former regime of Iraq’s Saddam Hussein against Iran during the organization’s meeting at the time of Iraq’s imposed war against Iran in the 1980s.
The foreign Minister emphasized that Tehran “has always backed and will back Muslim countries in the face of aggression, threats, occupation and terrorism.”
It is mention to worthy that Imam Khomeini recommended the Muslim nations and officials to use OIC to solve major problems facing the Muslim world.
The late founder of the Islamic Republic had been a great promoter of the Muslim unity among the Muslim world.
Imam in his speeches and messages also exposed crimes being committed by the House of Saud against the entire Muslim Ummah.
