Iran Foreign Ministry spokesman Hossein Jaber Ansari strongly condemned the attack by Saudi warples on the Iranian Embassy in Yemen's capital, Sanaa.
"This deliberate action by Saudi Arabia is a violation of all international conventions that protect diplomatic missions," media outlets quoted the Iranian spokesman as saying, adding, "The Saudi government is responsible for the damage caused and for the situation of members of staff who were injured."
"The Islamic republic reserves the right to pursue its interests in this matter," Ansari noted.
Earlier, Iranian president said that the Saudi regime was seeking to "cover its crime" by severing ties with Tehran.
"Saudi Arabia cannot cover its crime of having cut off the head of a cleric by cutting relations," President Hassan Rouhani said.
Over 7,500 people, mostly civilians, have been killed and more than 14,000 others injured since the Saudi launched strikes against the impoverished neighboring country late March last year. The Saudi aggression has also taken a heavy toll on Yemen’s instillations and infrastructure
Yemenis have, meanwhile, been carrying out retaliatory attacks against Saudi forces deployed in the country as well as targets inside the kingdom.
It is worthy to mention that Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic always emphasized maintaining amicable ties with all nations around the globe. However, Imam frequently through his messages and speeches exposed the crimes being committed by House of Saud.
