The leader said that Imam was essence and spirit of the Islamic Revolution and exceptional figure in its real sense. He also stressed the need for the young generation to become aware of Imam's thought and ideals.
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei made the remarks at a ceremony marking the 33rd anniversary of the passing of Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Revolution.
Imam Khomeini, who steered the popular uprising in Iran culminating in the fall of former regime of Shah, passed away on June 3, 1989.
